TY CATON VINEYARDS is located at Sonoma County’s southeastern tip, in the heart of Sonoma Valley - the birthplace of California winemaking. While Ty Caton replanted the property in 1997, the vineyard’s roots run much deeper and date back to the early 1920’s and on through the depression. The original Sonoma winery, crush-pad and house still stand as a testament to the winegrowing history of the land. This strong tie to the historic nature of the estate has been a key point in its development. Ty continues this commitment by farming sustainability, and as the steward of the land, is able to follow and shape the wine from vine to glass.

Ty Caton Vineyards

Founded:
1997
Owner:
Ty Caton
Location:
Sonoma, CA
Ty Caton Vineyards was established with his first release, the 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon. The Caton Vineyard is rich with an interesting history having been the site of a winery and vineyards that was founded in the 1920’s and ran consistently through prohibition and into the 1940’s. The original winery, crush-pad, and main home still stand today and are paid tribute to on our Caton Cabernet Collection labels. In the 60’s, the land was owned by The Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco and ran as a summer camp. The Ballfield Syrah and The Barracks Cabernet Sauvignon honor this history in their names. In 1997, Ty began developing the vineyard, and the Caton Vineyard as we know it today was founded. Ty has been farming the vineyard ever since.

In 2007, Ty and his wife, Kristen, opened the Ty Caton Vineyards wine tasting room in nearby Kenwood, California. Ty Caton Vineyards is a small family-owned winery where everyone pitches in. With a passion for the wines he creates, Ty works relentlessly at the winery being CEO, COO, and winemaker. Kristen fondly refers to herself as the “couch consultant,” participating in any major decision making for the winery and supporting the family business wherever there is a need. Ty’s parents, Brooke and Sandy, are often seen at the tasting room enjoying wine and socializing with our wine fans. Ty and Kristen’s children, Kendall and Connor, love running around the vineyard, tasting room, or winery on any given day learning about their parents’ business.

Since inception, Ty Caton wines have received critical acclaim in world renowned wine publications and competitions, including many Best of Class honors. As a grape grower and winemaker, Ty strives to produce the “wow factor” by making wines that are bold, beautifully structured and are a true representation of the vineyards they come from.
