Sweet Love
The air is tinged with incense — "sage contemplation" — as black lights illuminate fantastical posters of wizards and grim reapers, and the contents of a lava lamp lazily undulates.
"Amanda?"
"Yes?"
"Do you ever think about getting away from here? I mean, like away from everything. No family, none of your so-called friends. Just get out into the country and just ... I dunno. Live?"
"Oh, Quady Electra Sweet Wine. Sometimes it's like we're thinking the same thing."
She props herself up on her elbow, tossing her hair back with one black nail-polished hand, causing her gypsy bell bracelet to tinkle.
"Go on. What am I thinking now?"
The Quady Electra Sweet Wine blushes. "Oh, I dunno."
Giggle. "C'mon. Try."
They look at one another. Their eyes lock. There is a silence as they move their mouths towards one another.
Suddenly, a pounding shakes the door.
"Amanda? Are you in there alone with a case of wine?"
"Eff off, Mitch! I'm having a moment in here!"

2011 Quady Electra California Moscato, 375ml 12-Pack
Electra is light, delicate and refreshing, with a light spritz.
In 1990, we decided to produce a new type of dessert wine, light, delicate and very refreshing. We tasted Orange Muscat grape juice as it was turning into wine. When the juice was just on the verge - halfway betwen wine and grape juice, a small test batch was bottled. The wine tasted wonderful, but the alcohol was only 4% (most wines are at least 12%).
The wine was bottled using sterile filtration to prevent refermentation and the new creation named Electra after the electric like texture one notices on the tip of the tongue. This is a picnic wine, light delicate and refreshing, a breath of springtime, a bouquet of flowers with the taste of peach and melon. Electra goes well with spicy picnic foods, salads, pastas, and dessert.

- Andrew & Laurel Quady
- Founded:
- 1977
- Location:
- Madera, CA
First there were two – Andrew and Laurel Quady left crowded southern California and their jobs in pyrotechnics and merchandising to pursue their dream: a non-urban way of life making wine. Returning to school, Andrew graduated with a Masters in Food Science-Enology from UC Davis and Laurel became a licensed CPA. In 1975, at the urging of friend Darrell Corti, they made their first port from Amador County Zinfandel at the now defunct Lodi Vintners where Andrew was working as an assistant winemaker. In 1977, settled in Madera in California’s Central Valley with Andrew working at Heublein, they built a small winery behind their country home and made port on evenings and weekends.
Quady Winery specializes in dessert wines from under-appreciated muscat varieties, in ports, and in aperitif wines.
